  • Kodachadri via Hidlumane Falls is a moderate grade trek that’s both adventurous and achievable—perfect for those with reasonable fitness and a love for the outdoors.

Prepare to cover around 14 km over 6–7 hours, starting with a forest trail and a refreshing pitstop at Hidlumane Falls before tackling steep, grassy climbs as you ascend the Kodachadri ridge. The route does have a few calf-burning stretches and gets quite challenging after the falls, but you don’t need technical mountaineering skills—just a solid pair of shoes, a willingness to get muddy, and plenty of enthusiasm!

The best part? You’ll be trekking in a supportive group, guided by someone who knows when you need a breather (or a great spot for photos). There’s plenty of opportunity to rest, savour epic views, and swap stories with fellow trekkers along the way.

In short: If you’re ready to push yourself a bit beyond the ordinary weekend, Kodachadri via Hidlumane is an adventure that’s rewarding, memorable, and absolutely worth the effort.

  • Kodachadri has its own charm throughout the year, so the best time to experience the trek depends on the adventure you seek:

    • October to February: These months offer the most comfortable trekking conditions, with cool weather, clear skies, and sweeping views from the summit. If you prefer steady trails and sunny days, this is your ideal window.

    • June to September (Monsoon): Up for a challenge? The monsoon months transform Kodachadri into a lush, misty wonderland, with vibrant greenery and countless streams crossing your path. Trails can be slippery and leeches are common, so come prepared—but the reward is a trek filled with raw, wild beauty.

Wanderophile Tip: If dramatic cloudscapes and the thrill of monsoon trekking appeal to you, Kodachadri in the rains is unforgettable. For steady hiking and pleasant weather, opt for the post-monsoon and winter months—either way, you’re in for an amazing adventure!

Went on the Gangadikal, Merthi Gudda, and Kurinjal treks with Wanderophile, and it was a fabulous experience. The treks were organized really well, and everything ran smoothly from start to finish. Our trek leader Nagabhushan was very friendly, approachable, and shared a lot of knowledge about the Western Ghats, which made the journey even more enjoyable.

The stay arranged was comfortable, and the food was homely and delicious—a perfect way to end long days of trekking. Overall, Wanderophile made the whole trip fun, safe, and memorable. Highly recommend them if you’re looking for well-planned treks around the Western Ghats!

This was my 3rd trek through trekking groups. I must say it was the best one so far. They organized it so well. If you are going solo you never feel it because they conduct some activities foe ice-breaking. I would recommend to take a trip through them.
