Savandurga, standing tall at an height of 1227 meters is the largest monolith in Asia & is one of the most beautiful trekking places near Bangalore.
Savandurga is a huge monolithic hill, in fact, Asia’s largest monolithic hill which is located in Magadi taluk of Ramanagara district. It is around 60 km away from Bangalore & is a favourite trekking place of Bangaloreans.
There are two trails on Savandurga which lead to the peak- Karigudda & Biligudda. The Karigudda trail is very steep & it is not advised to trek on this trail without professional guidance & required permits. The Biligudda trail is less challenging & hence used by all trekkers.
You can find ruins of fort walls on the hill & also there is a Nandi mantapa at the peak which will mark the end of the trek. At the foothills are two popular temples- Lakshmi Narasimhaswamy temple & Savandi Veerabhadreshwara temple, to which people come from all over the state.
